PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

NFC 33-209 Twist 2 core Cable Overhead Line Aluminum Conductor XLPE ABC power Cable

ABC overhead line transmission cable application

Aerial Bundle Cable Aluminum Insulated Twist Cable used to supply power, usually from a pole-mounted transformer, to the user's service head where connection to the service entrance. To be used at 600V or less phase to phase and at conductor temperatures not to exceed 75°C for polyethylene insulated or 90°C  XLPE aluminum wire cable. ABC cable carry the power from the utility lines to the buildings through the weather head. Based on this particular function, abc cables are also described as service drop cables.

Aluminum overhead cables include duplex, triplex, and quadruplex varieties. Duplex cables are used in single-phase power lines, whereas quadruplex cables are used in the three-phase power lines. Triplex cables are exclusively used to carry power from the utility lines to customers. Aluminum conductor cables are made of soft 1350-H19 aluminum series. They are insulated with an extruded thermoplastic polyethylene or cross-linked polyethylene for protection from problematic outdoor environmental conditions. The cables are designed with an operational temperature of up to 75 degrees and a voltage rating of 600 volts.

- Examination of conductor and dimensions
- Hot set test for XLPE insulation
- Insulation and oversheath thickness
- Four hour voltage test

These potentially destructive tests are normally carried out on every production run.

Type tests:
- Electrical type tests including bending and heat cycle
- Non-electrical type tests including mechanical properties after ageing and tests under fire conditions.
